Encaustic and collage on wood 62" x 26"
My Grandmother's wedding dress lies imbedded in layers of wax on a bed of letters written to her by my Great Grandmother. Collaged into the heart are her ideas about marriage, passed through the generations to me. Sixteen thorns are imbedded in the folds of the dress.

Here is easier to see the edge of the dress and the barbed wire that surrounds the heart area - where the collage is. Sewn into the dress are the words ... there was once such hope in this heart.
